Ardvanderlinden painted in Parque Eduardo VII on a slowly rising avenue over viewing the city.
Portugal formed a republic in 1910 and the present flag was adopted in 1911. The red of the Portuguese flag represents revolution and the green represents a Portuguese explorer; King Henry the Navigator. The central symbol is an armillary sphere, an early navigationa instrument.
Despite the grey weather, we painted 750 flags and spread our message "unity through identity". There were only some reactions on the field of Portuguese flags. In the afternoon Mario Proenca (www.marioprophoto.com) made a photographic registration of the event.
